Yellow Heart Art

Hi There! My name is Leonora and I'm a graphic designer, photographer and fine artist . All my work comes from here (oh, right, this is online...you can't see where I'm pointing--when I say "here" I'm pointing to my heart--just ignore the chocolate stain on my shirt...I apparently can't eat a meal without half of it ending up all over me). I love staring at a blank screen, staring at a blank canvas or staring down the view finder of my camera and filling that space with something--ANYTHING--and letting people into my world using my art. facebook.com/yellowheartart • Twitter.com/YellowHeartArt • YellowHeartArt.blogspot.com • YellowHeartArt@gmail.com

I really hope this naked dance party kicks off at 6:00P.M. not A.M. or else we’re gonna have a disgruntled naked Leonora on your hands. It’s just unholy to wake up anytime before 9:00A.M. on a sunday. Period. Even if it is for naked dance parties.

PS-this photo is pretty fab though, def need to get it asap.

I Totally Caved-No Self Control

Yeah, it’s true. When it comes to cameras (and anything covered in chocolate) guess who has ZERO self control…yeah that would be this gal.

You may or may not remember my post featuring the Sprocket Rocket, there too was where I proclaimed my love to lomography and cameras with totally awesome names.

You will be glad to find out that I did not purchase said sprocket rocket (wait wait hold your applause please) but I did splurge and bought this lil fella instead. (It’s ok though I had a giftcard, and I mean I had to use the giftcard—right? right).

Yep, I bought me the 360* spinner (or SPINNAH as I so endearingly call it, I tend to replace all my “ERs” with “AHs”)

Yes you guys you see that lil circle thingy ma bobby by the top of the handle? You actually PULL on that. (yes yes you PULL IT and it goes spinning about like this toy that I had as a kid—that see-n-say thingy ma jig)

It takes uh-may-zing lo-fi panoramics and the best part is that YOU can be included in the shot!

man, I am going to have so much fun with this thing on vacation. Las Vegas and LA…are you ready for my pano-camera? I’m pretty sure you are.

oh & as always, all photos courtesy of photojojo.com

dig fun things? Then check out my giveaway here! Dainty Loops is giving away one of her dope petal necklaces—hurry though, contest ends on sunday (all the cool kids are doing it and you, my friend, are cool)

Hot Dayumm, beautiful photo my pal Jenn took. Uhhh Jenn, will you take my photo? Ok, good.
jenniferruiz:

I finally got some 120 film developed, and despite a whole roll not coming out and it being rather pricey, i did get a handful of nice ones. This is Erni in the park on monday.

Typography + Photography = Fashion?

In case you didn’t know, I have a huge crush on veer.com

They have combined the 3 things in life that gives me the warm and fuzzies. Yes folks they have wrapped up typography, photography and fashion into one big ball of awesomeness.

For the graphic designer fashionista in your life I present to you the typography scarf

We didn’t forget about you photographers! Check out your exposure scarf.

…isn’t art fun?

Too bad that darn ground hog didn’t see his shadow, I wanted a chance to sport these scarves a wee bit longer.

So since The Bubs got me this argus c3 for Valentines Day I decided “Hey, let me check out and see if I can find an old manual for this bad boy”.
Google, you impressed me again. Thank you for finding this manual for me—now I know that when my subject’s torso is disengaged from its body that it is indeed “out of focus” and not some mutant trying to come after me.
If this camera really does take photos like that out of focus I may never ever ever leave it in focus ever again. Bring it Mutant-apocalypse!

DIY Photo Candy Grams!

So wait, it’s valentines day and you still didn’t get your hunka-hunka-burn-o-love some sweet stuff yet?

No worries-I’m here to save Valentines day. Would you judge me if I ran around wearing a cape for this occasion? Good, didn’t think so.

Got a digital camera? Got some lollipops? What about a printer?

You do? Well then you, my friend, are in luck.

Step one: Take a photo of yourself (I used my spiffy MacBook Pro for this, I’m glad I spent $2,400 on a lap top so I can make some free Valentines outta it-totally worth it) This is so it can look like you’re holding the lollipop.

Step Two: Make some slits around your hands using some scissors or an exacto knife so the lollipop can slip through.

Step Three: Shimmy lollipop through the slits and BADA BING you got yourself a rad lil valentine that looks like you should enter in the next “Mr.Universe” competition. Watch out Arnold Schwarzenegger I’m coming for ya! (Don’t be impressed, I totally had to google his name-there was no way I was spelling “schwarzenegger” with out the aid of google)

Now if only they made real lollipops that big…

Pssst…if you REALLY have no time to do anything at all then check out my freebie Valentines that I made for you guys! click here if your a photo enthusiast, click here if you’re a hopeless romantic. Have fun!

“Love is When you Make Magic Happen With Your Camera” - Graphic Print by Leonora Jennifer for Yellow Heart Art
You know that moment I’m talking about. You set up your camera, you got your aperture just so, the shutter speed calculation is perfect, now here comes that crucial moment between now and when you press the shutter release button where you’re either going to shout “EUREKA!” or $(*&%$)(**#)! <——those are not so nice words by the way, in case you were wondering. This moment is one of the most terrifying moments in a photographer’s life. Well that and discovering that your camera wasn’t as screwed in to the top of the tripod as tightly as you thought it was and you see your precious DSLR in slow-mo crash down to the floor in a fiery pit of doom. You may or may not scream some more obscenities in this situation, but if you did we wouldn’t blame you.
And then, it happens. That photo you had wanted so badly turns out perfectly. You swear you can hear angels singing and see the clouds parting above your head. (They are parting by the way, just for you)
It probably is one of thee best top 10 feelings in the world.
Waddya think? Should I add it to the shop? Would you want one of these prints?

It’s Official, I didn’t think it could happen but my Love/Love Relationship for photojojo has just skyrocketed through the universe (Yeah, I passed the whole “roof” and went right to “universe”)
They featured my Color Me in Valentines in their latest and greatest “DIY Valentines” newsletter. I mean really, nothing says “hey baby, I love you” like telling them that you instantly fell for them—right? Right. Good. Glad we’re on the same page.
Insert squeals of extreme delight riiiiiiight here. (oh you can’t hear my squeals? It’s probably b/c I squeal so high that only dogs and high frequency cop radar guns can only get a reading off of it)
Seriously go check out their DIY valentines, they’re quick, easy, and pretty much really stinkin’ awesome (don’t worry guys stinkin’ = good not bad, I swear)
And while you’re at it make sure to follow their tumblr, they post great things like gnarly photos, how-to tips and their latest and greatest photo gadgets (they do a lot of scouring for these photo gadgets just to make you guys happy, so show em a lil love, I mean come on its Valentines day! everyone deserves a lil somethin’ somethin’)
